VFA News Report
Veterans For America Inc., www.vfainc.org., had a great time on Saturday, September 15th, 2012, at the VFA’s First Annual Harley Davidson Poker Run. The Antelope Valley Harley Davidson dealership in Lancaster, (http://antelopevalleyhd.reachlocal.com/?scid-1584317&kw=1041355&pub_cr_id+6394392006). Harley Davidson, was a major sponsor and graciously provided their support along with their dealership location for the festive out door event.
The day’s festivities included delicious barbequed food, “Hot off the Grill” to delight the palette. We appreciate a terrific local Rock n’ Roll band named, “Prevalent” with members who are also U.S. Military Veterans. You guys were a sensational musical hit and a pleasure to hear. There was an afternoon raffle and donated prizes from Carpeteria, Aqua Dulce Winery, Mark Heyne, Allied Chiropractic, Visco financial Services, Anthony Peter Senecal among other benevolent sponsors. A series of notable speakers inspired the Veteran’s gathering with terrific speeches.
The special event was organized by Larry Hobson of the ERA of America, www.eraofamerica.com., along with Vernita Scott Flanton of jade7Inc Consulting. The ERA card company currently contributes needed donations to the VFA. His charming daughters Ashleigh Hobson and Kelsey Hobson both happily volunteered to help in registering the Harley Bikers for the Harley ride and poker run, handily assisted Larry. The ERA CARD is a local and national consumer discount card. Free ERA cards were presented to all of the men and women who signed up for the 130 mile Harley ride.
Major General Levy, the President of the VFA, gave a rousing keynote address to an enthusiastic crowd of Veterans, their families and welcomed guests. General Levy, spoke of the VFA’s veteran’s facility, which is in the beginning stages of development, in the Antelope Valley foothills. The Country needs more housing for the U.S.A’s homeless, elderly, and disabled Veterans. The VFA is striving to help to make this happen. The VFA attempts to help any Military Veterans in need of assistance. Veterans For America, is a tax deductible, 501 C-3, non-profit veterans charity organization serving our Military Veterans.
For this exceptional event, Veterans For America Inc., came together with The William J. Pete Knight Veterans Home, a CalVet facility in Lancaster, CA., 93536. As the grateful recipients of this events funds, raised by the VFA.
Pete Knight (November 18, 1929-May 8, 2004) was a US politician, combat pilot, test pilot and an American astronaut. Pete Knight holds the world speed record for flight in a winged, powered aircraft. Pete flew over 100 different aircraft in his 32-year career including 253 combat sorties in the F-100.
Pete’s son, State Assemblyman Steve Knight, told the audience of the ongoing work at the Pete Knight Veteran’s Home. A F-100 Jet, like the ones his father flew, is being refurbished to be a center of attraction on the grounds of the Veteran’s Home. California Assemblyman Steve Knight, is currently in the process of raising the $30,000 needed for the Jet’s restoration from private donations and Veteran’s contributions. The Jet will permanently stand as a symbol to honor the men and women who courageously severed in all of our U.S. Military branches.
Mr. Dave Barr, proved to be a truly inspirational speaker. He is a terrific person and an outstanding example of how to overcome major disabilities while living a good life with gusto. Dave is a Guinness record holder. Mr. Barr is a veteran, a service connected, double amputee and the published author of, “Riding The Edge” and Riding The Ice. Mr. Barr has been inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame. www.davebarr.com.
Jack Marino, is a local Southern California talk radio host and movie producer. Jack produced a twenty-year film project entitled, “The Forgotten Heroes”. The movie is about The Vietnam War. It was great to have Jack as an active participant in the VFA’s fund raising event. The MIA’s and POW’s, along with the service personnel who fought and those who died for Our Country’s cause, will never be forgotten! www.warriorfilms.com.
Major General Levy presented the recipient of the VFA’s $500.00 cash price, for winning the Harley Davidson Poker Run. To our unexpected surprise, our winner delighted the audience by, without hesitation, donating $400.00 of his cash prize back to the VFA and the Pete Knight Veteran’s Home. The members of Veterans For America Inc., earnestly want to thank him for his meaningful, heartfelt, selfless, contribution of great generosity.
For outstanding, continuing, efforts to help “Our Nation’s Veterans”, Mr. Norm Hickling honored Major General Levy and the VFA. General Levy, received a “Commendation Award”, from the County of Los Angeles, for Veterans for America and the Pete Knight Veteran’s Home, Harley Davidson Poker Run. Mr. Hickling is, “the right hand man” from County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich’s office. We thank Mr. Michael Antonovich, along with members of his L.A. County staff at the Supervisor’s office for being there for us. Hand in hand we worked to help our Nation’s Veterans with the community’s solid support.
Tamara Bacco, of Bigelow Family Home Care in Lancaster, informed the Veterans that there is indeed home care for the elderly and disabled covered under the Veteran’s Administration. This can add hope and home health care to those in need of home care services. www.bigelowfamilyhomecare.com.
Music promoter and a Navy veteran, Mr. Jan Jacques along with two Public Relations firms volunteered to help us promote media attention for this year’s Annual Harley Davidson Poker Run. We thank Monica, of PRHOLLYWOOD from Century City and Venita, of Jade7Inc Consulting from the Antelope Valley, for your helpful contributions.

Latest Sea Trials of the F-35B
This video link is fresh (for the public). It was made just six weeks ago in the Atlantic, just off Newport News (Hampton Roads), Virginia.
|These are the latest sea trials of the F-35B on the USS Wasp. They were very successful, with 74 VL's and STO's in a three week period.
The media and the program critics had predicted that we would burn holes in the deck and wash sailors overboard.
Neither of which happened You will notice a sailor standing on the bow of the ship as the jet rotates.
That was an intentional part of the sea trials. No catapult... No hook.... It's a new world out there! The shape and scope of warfare – worldwide – just changed.

If you watch nothing else today, please take the time to view this video. My salute to our Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen who have so faithfully served this great Nation.
